900: IT'LL END IN TEARS | THIS MORTAL COIL

1984: This moody 4AD release was a favorite amongst goths with a good musical palette. I always found it to be the right kind of haunting. 

The album It’ll End in Tears by This Mortal Coil was released on October 1, 1984, and features many of the artists on the 4AD roster at the time, including Cocteau Twins, Colourbox, and Dead Can Dance; as well as key post-punk figure Howard Devoto 1. The album consists mostly of obscure covers selected by Ivo Watts-Russell and performed by artists on his label 2. Some of the songs on the album include “Kangaroo” and “Holocaust” by Alex Chilton, “Song to the Siren” by Tim Buckley, “Fond Affections” by Rema-Rema, “Another Day” by Roy Harper, and “Not Me” by Colin Newman 3
